Student-athlete Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) Policy
The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Rhode Island College is committed to supporting its student-athletes and their pursuit of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) activities in accordance with all applicable NCAA rules and/or state and federal laws, while continuing to further the mission of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in a manner aligned in a positive manner with those of Rhode Island College that demonstrates its value by enhancing the College’s reputation on a local, regional and national level.
The Department of Athletics is committed across a wide spectrum to educate is student-athletes, which includes professional development in the areas of decision-making, due diligence, monetary consideration and contracts.
The policy pertains to all student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics at Rhode Island College. The policy defines the expectations surrounding a student-athlete’s involvement in NIL activities, while also encouraging its student-athletes to take advantage of these new opportunities as some of the College’s most visible ambassadors. Student-athletes are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on themselves, their families, their coaches, their teammates, the Department of Athletics and the College as a whole.
This policy applies to student-athletes when they officially enroll as a full-time student of the College.
