RIC Names Yesenia Evaristo Assistant Softball Coach

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College has named Yesenia Evaristo as the assistant softball coach.
 
"I am beyond excited about the addition of Yesenia to our RIC Softball Family," RIC Head Coach Mary Holt-Kelsch said. "Sen brings a focused and competitive energy that will do wonders for our program. She will work primarily with our pitching staff and I look forward to watching the continued improvements in the circle."
 
"Sen shares the program's desire to achieve championship success and I believe adding her to our staff keeps us on the championship path. I am looking forward to our journey together!"
 
Evaristo is originally from Bethel, Connecticut. She was a two-time All-State selection, while also earning All-Conference and All-Division honors. Evaristo holds her high school program's career strikeout record.
 
She also pitched for the USA team in Spain, pitching against the Valencia, Madrid, and Barcelona teams. 
 
She went on to be a scholarship student-athlete at Southern Connecticut State University where she an accomplished strikeout pitcher. During her career, Evaristo was a Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athlete of the Week.
 
After college, she served as a private pitching instructor for over 30 young athletes in her home state. She has started working with many Rhode Island athletes and was the head coach at Cranston High School East. 
 
Evaristo was a behavioral therapist for five years before transitioning her role into a special education teacher for the severe and profound.
 
Evaristo earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Southern Connecticut in 2017. She is currently working on her master's degree at Grand Canyon University and was a part of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society.
