Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) knocked in Rhode Island College's only run as the No. 5-seeded Anchorwomen were eliminated by No. 4-seeded Castleton, 11-1 (five innings) in game eight of the 2023 Little East Softball Championship, hosted by Eastern Connecticut on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Spartans scored in every inning, plating four in the first frame and three and two, respectively, in the fourth and fifth frames, to end the game in five innings due to the eight-run rule.
• Ashe brought in freshman second baseman
Noelle Simmons (Manchester, N.H.) with an RBI single in the fourth.
• The Anchorwomen went 2-2 at the LEC Championship, the program's first appearance in the league's postseason tourney since 2014.
• RIC's 19 wins are the most in a season since the 2013 squad won 23.
