Greensboro, N.C.--Senior center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, three triples and a stolen base as Rhode Island College opened the 2024 softball season with a 7-2 win over Susquehanna on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) smacked a two-run double in the first and Katz tripled in a run in the second as RIC built a 4-0 advantage.
 
• Katz notched a sacrifice fly as part of a two-run seventh for the Anchorwomen.
 
• Sophomore pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) struck out seven in a complete game win (1-0).
 
• Ashe went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
