Kidd and Clesas Help RIC Blast Mitchell, 13-0

New London, Conn.--Junior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) did not allow a hit and struck out 10, while junior right fielder Abby Clesas (Johnston, R.I.) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI, as Rhode Island College blasted Mitchell, 13-0 (five innings), in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The visitors essentially put the game away with a six-run top of the first inning. Clesas brought in two with a single.
 
• After scoring on a wild pitch in the second, the Anchorwomen put two across in the third, fourth and fifth frames. Sophomore second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) singled in a pair in the third and senior first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) smacked a two-run homer in the fifth.
 
•  Kidd earned her fourth win (4-0), allowing just one walk in four innings of work.
 
• Simmons went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBI and a double. Ashe went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a pair of RBI.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play the second game of the doubleheader vs. Mitchell (5 p.m.).
