New Haven, Conn--The 4x400m relay team finished first overall as Rhode Island College tied for second place (13 teams) at Southern Connecticut's Art Kadish Elm City Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
 
THE BASICS
• RIC finished tied for second (13 teams) with a team score of 51.0. Southern Connecticut won the meet with a team score of 222.5.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior Younton Doe (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished first overall in the 4x400m relay (3:32.35) and fourth in the 400m (51.85).
 
• Sophomore Brody Shiels (Wakefield, R.I.) finished first overall in the 4x400m relay (3:32.35), tied for eighth in the 400m (53.45) and 19th in the 200m (23.69).
 
• Sophomore Jack McEntee (Foster, R.I.) finished first overall in the 4x400m relay (3:32.35), seventh in the 400m (52.66) and 20th in the 200m (23.88).
 
• Freshman Maycol Reynoso (Providence, R.I.) finished first overall in the 4x400m relay (3:32.35), eighth in the 200m (23.04) and ninth in the 55m preliminaries (6.59).
 
• Junior Andrew Frezza (Johnston, R.I.) won the 3,000m (9:03.96). 
 
• Sophomore Owen Schenck (Warren, R.I.) finished second in the mile (4:29.67) and fifth in the 4x400m relay (3:41.46).
 
• Senior Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) finished third in the weight throw (16.74m).
 
• Freshman Tyler Boudreau (Warwick, R.I.) finished fourth in the 800m (2:02.54) and fifth in the 4x400m relay (3:41.46).
 
• Junior Enrique Edjang (Providence, R.I.) finished fourth in the weight throw (16.16m).
 
• Sophomore Joshua Dabanka (Providence, R.I.) finished seventh in the long jump (6.59m) and eighth in the triple jump (12.58m).
 
• Freshman Josh Valentine (East Greenwich, R.I.) finished fourth in the 3,000m (10:20.30).
 
• Freshman Truva Akarra (Barrington, R.I.) finished fifth in the 4x400m relay (3:41.46) and 17th in the 400m (56.75).
 
• Freshman Marcos Ruiz Uben (Westerly, R.I.) finished fifth in the 4x400m relay (3:41.46), eighth in the 55m hurdles preliminaries (8.39) and 14th in the 400m (54.60).
 
• Freshman Jacob Sanchez (Woonsocket, R.I.) finished sixth in the 800m (2:15.53).
 
• Junior Hussein Niyonkuru (Providence, R.I.) finished seventh in the 800m (2:15.62).
 
• Freshman Adrien Nacci (Newport, R.I.) finished 11th in the 600m (1:31.65).
 
• Sophomore Aiden Fitzgerald (Cumberland, R.I.) finished 12th in the shot (12.73m).
 
• Freshman Christian Briggs (West Warwick, R.I.) finished 13th in the weight throw (13.62m).
 
• Senior Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished 14th in the weight throw (13.52m).
 
• Junior Trevor Morgan (Smithfield, R.I.) finished 17th in the weight throw (13.23m) and 30th in the shot (9.76m).
 
• Sophomore Ravi Kapadia (Lincoln, R.I.) finished 18th in the weight throw (13.01m) and 23rd in the shot (11.79m).
 
• Sophomore Devin McCaffrey (Lincoln, R.I.) finished 19th in the weight throw (12.46m) and 28th in the shot (10.53m).
 
• Junior Antonello Lucchetti (Cranston, R.I.) finished 21st in the 200m (23.90) and 39th in the 55m preliminaries (7.05).
 
• Freshman Nathan Bright (Brockton, Mass.) finished 31st in the 200m (24.68).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 10 (Noon).
