Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.) dropped a game-high 26 points, to go along with six boards and a pair of blocks, Rhode Island College crushed VTSU Castleton, 73-44, at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Spartans took the early lead, 4-2, but the Anchorwomen found their footing not long after and would lead by five, 18-13, after the first quarter.

• Junior guard
Abby Wager (Mansfield, Mass.) opened the second stanza with two buckets to give RIC some momentum and Schuermann poured in seven points in the quarter to put the hosts ahead at the half, 36-23.

• The Anchorwomen never looked back, as five points in the third quarter from sophomore guard
Shalyn Smith (Middletown, Conn.) gave the Anchorwomen a hefty, 55-32, lead with 10 minutes remaining.

• Schuermann stayed hot in the fourth frame as she drilled two threes to lead the Anchorwomen to their third consecutive conference win.Â

• Smith was also lights in the win, as she registered 19 points, four boards and four assists.
