Abby Kidd Fires a Three-Hit Shutout as RIC Blanks Simmons, 6-0

Brighton, Mass.—Senior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) fired a complete game, three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts as Rhode Island College blanked Simmons, 6-0, in game one of a doubleheader played at Daly Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC scored twice in the second to build a 2-0 lead as sophomore designated player Sydney Duclos (North Providence, R.I.) got things started with an RBI sacrifice fly and sophomore catcher Brianna Bailey (Windsor, Conn.) singled in a run.
 
• The Anchorwomen tacked on three runs in the fourth as fifth-year third baseman Victoria Young (Sterling, Conn) tripled in a run and then scored on another Duclos sacrifice fly.
 
• Sophomore first baseman Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) capped the frame with an RBI double and then plated another in the seventh with the club's third sacrifice fly on the day.
 
• Sophomore left fielder Melanie Earley (Lumberton, N.J.) went 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored.
