UMass Dartmouth Stuns Anchormen, 3-1

Providence, R.I.--Sophomore midfielder Julian Orellana (Providence, R.I.) scored the Anchormen's lone goal as Rhode Island College fell, 3-1, vs. UMass Dartmouth in a Little East battle played at Alumni Stadium on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC was quick to take possession and control of the game, as the hosts tallied four shots to the Corsairs' one in the first 11 minutes of action.
 
• Orellana netted the host's lone goal in the 12th minute as freshman midfielder Jackson Pelland (Epping, N.H.) garnered the assist to put the Anchormen ahead, 1-0.
 
• The visitors proceeded to take all the momentum from RIC with an equalizer in the 38th minute and then stunned the Anchormen with another two goals before the half ended in the 41st and 43rd minutes, respectively.
 
• The Anchormen were on their heels in the second half, but were able to get the ball to Orellana in the 81st minute where his goal-bound shot was saved.
 
• RIC had a flurry of chances within the last 10 minutes, but the Corsairs would hold on for their first conference win.
 
• The loss snapped a three-game unbeaten streak for the Anchormen as UMD handed them their first conference loss of the season.
 
• Senior goalkeeper Elhadji Ndoye (Cranston, R.I.) made five saves in the loss (4-3-1).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at home vs. Keene State on Saturday, Oct. 10 (noon).
