Duclos and Guilfoyle Lead Anchorwomen in Split at Eastern Connecticut

Willimantic, Conn.--Junior right fielder Sydney Duclos (North Providence, R.I.) went a 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in game one to help Rhode Island College split with Eastern Connecticut in Little East Conference action played at Clyde Washburne Field on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• After a scoreless first inning, the Warriors struck first and led off the second frame with a home run to kickstart the offense.
 
• Senior second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) led off the sixth stanza with a double on a Duclos double to tie the game.
 
• Sophomore first baseman Jillian Guilfoyle (Derby, Conn.) then notched the go ahead RBI with a double to give the visitors the lead, 2-1.

• Freshman pitcher Mia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) slammed the door in the seventh for the win (11-1), as she allowed just a single run on three hits to go along with seven punchouts.
 
GAME TWO
• Junior shortstop Melanie Earley (Lumberton, N.J.) singled in a run in the top of the first, but the Warriors put across three in the home half of the frame as the visitors would trail, 3-2, through two innings.
 
• The hosts then scored two more runs on in the third and fourth innings to make it a 5-2 advantage.
 
• The Anchorwomen had one last push with RBI doubles by Duclos and Guilfoyle in the seventh inning, but could not even the game.
 
• Guilfoyle and Duclos each went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

• Senior pitcher Gabby Cunha (Cranston, R.I.) was handed the loss (5-6).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play with a doubleheader at home vs. Keene State on Saturday, April 25 (1 p.m.).
