Nicole Nunes (Smithfield, R.I.) made a diving save in the 86th minute to keep a clean sheet as Rhode Island College defeated Plymouth State, 1-0, in the two clubs' Little East opener played at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a physical start to the game and chances near the net for both sides, the first half ended in level terms, 0-0.

• The Panthers held the momentum for most of the second half as the Anchorwomen were back on their heels. PSU recorded on of its best chances of the game in the 70th minute as an offering missed just wide of the post.

• PSU was whistled for a handball in the 84
th minute just outside the top of the 18-yard box. Junior forward
Caitlyn Terceiro (Warren, R.I.) ripped a shot that squeaked through the Panther netminder's hands for her fifth goal in the past three games.
• Nunes was tested late in the game and made a spectacular diving save, while Plymouth State's follow-up was blocked, to preserve the win.
