Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College freshman Jenna Lisi (Cranston, RI) won at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles to help lead the Anchorwomen past Curry, 9-0, at the RIC Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC juniors Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, MA) and Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, RI) opened the day with a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles.

• RIC juniors Laurel Ten Eyck (Warwick, RI) and Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) defeated Curry freshman Sophia Wiernusz (Collegeville, PA) and junior Alison Daigle (Edgartown, MA), 8-0, at No. 1 doubles.

• Lisi and junior Emily Orticerio (Smithfield, RI) defeated freshmen Sara Johnson (Amesbury, MA) and Natalie Valvo (Hermosa Beach, CA), 8-1, at No. 2 doubles to send RIC into singles competition up by three points, 3-0.

• RIC freshman Sarah Gonick (Kingston, MA) secured a forfeit win at No. 6 singles. 

• Vittori won (6-0, 6-0) vs. Curry junior Samantha Gilbert (Bedford, MA) at No. 5 singles to clinch the win.

• Raskob defeated Valvo (6-2, 6-1) at No. 4 singles. 

• Zangari defeated Daigle (6-0, 6-0) at No. 2 singles.

• Ten Eyck won (6-1, 6-0) vs. Johnson at No. 3 singles.

• Lisi defeated Wiernusz (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1 singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East Conference play at home vs. UMass Boston on Saturday, Sept. 7 (1 p.m.).
