Anchorwomen Win Fourth Straight Little East Women's Tennis Tournament Title

Jenna Lisi Named the Tourney's Most Outstanding Player for the Second Straight Season

Providence, R.I.—Sophomore Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.) was named the tourney's Most Outstanding Player as No. 1-seeded Rhode Island College defeated No. 2-seeded Plymouth State, 5-0, to claim the 2020-21 Little East Women's Tennis Championship in the tournament finals played at the RIC Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
• Senior Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, R.I.) and senior Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, R.I.) opened the match with an 8-0 win over PSU seniors Kerstin Venincasa (Sutton, Mass.) and Jenna Sundquist (Monument Beach, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles.
 
• RIC freshman Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) and senior Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.) followed with an 8-2 victory vs. PSU sophomore Megan Marshall (Dartmouth, Mass.) and freshman Camilla Puzio (Holden, Mass.) at No. 3 doubles.
 
• Lisi and senior Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.) put the Anchorwomen in the driver's seat heading into singles play with an 8-2 win vs. PSU senior Maggie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) and sophomore Kira Winter (Eliot, Maine) at No. 1 doubles.
 
SINGLES
• Lisi defeated McCarthy (6-1, 6-0) at No. 1 singles.
 
Macera downed Venincasa (6-0, 6-1) at No. 4 singles to clinch the win.
 
• Zangari was leading (6-3, 3-0) over Winter at No. 2 singles
 
• Raskob was leading Marshall (6-0, 5-1) at No. 3 singles.
 
• Vittori was leading Sundquist (6-1, 5-1) at No. 5 singles.
 
• Bobola was leading junior Julie Miller (Woburn, Mass.) (6-1, 5-0) at No. 6 singles.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC has won six consecutive Little East Regular Season Championships, bringing the program's total to 12 all-time.
 
• RIC has won four straight Little East Tournament titles and 10 all-time.
 
• The Anchorwomen have won 41 consecutive matches vs. Little East opponents.
