Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass.) earned a team-high 11 kills as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team was defeated by Little East opponent Eastern Connecticut, 3-0, at the Murray Center on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Eastern would hold a large advantage in the beginning of the first set, but RIC would storm back to cut the deficit down to one, 19-18. The Warriors would then pull away, winning the first set by five, 25-20.

• The Warriors would take the momentum they built at the end of the first set and carry it over to the rest of the match, quickly dismissing RIC, 25-17, and, 25-14, over the final two stanzas.

• ECSU senior setter
Meg Verizzi (Lebanon, Conn.) picked up her 33
rd assist of the match early in the third frame, giving her 2,000 for her career.

• Murphy had another double-digit kill effort, bringing her 1,000-kill chase down to 29 with seven matches remaining.

• Eastern senior middle hitter
Anna Barry (Andover, Conn.) registered a match-high 12 kills and hit .417 on the night.
