Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass.) became the sixth Anchorwoman in program history to eclipse 1,000 career kills as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team defeated Mass. Maritime, 3-0, in the first contest of a tri-match played at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• With RIC up, 4-2, in the opening set, sophomore setter
Natalie Reid (North Attleboro, Mass.) set the table for Murphy, who then unleashed her 1,000th career kill.

• RIC would ride that momentum to a 25-15 set one victory.

• The Anchorwomen turned away the Bucs for the rest of the afternoon, winning sets two and three (25-19; 25-12) to secure the sweep.

• Murphy totaled 16 kills and hit .538.

Megan Philbrick (Johnston, R.I.) chipped in with eight kills and three service aces, while Reid handed out 32 assists.
