Portland, Maine--Senior Will Niles (Warwick, R.I.) finished 12^th overall as the Rhode Island College men's golf team finished fourth (seven teams) at the Southern Maine Fall Invitational on Oct. 2-3.
 
THE BASICS
• Rhode Island College finished the tournament in fourth place (seven teams) with a team score of 631 (314, 317).
 
• Southern Maine won the event with a team score of 617 (305, 312). USM won the tiebreaker over Nichols, which also totaled an identical team score.
 
• The event was held at Riverside Golf Course.
 
• There were 34 golfers at the event.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Niles carded a two-day total of 157 (78, 79; +13) and placed 12^th.
 
• Freshman Jasper Bruins Slot (Scituate, R.I.) finished tied for 13^th with a score of 158 (80, 78; +14)
 
• Senior Nate Chhim (Tiverton, R.I.) tied for 13^th with a score of 158 (78, 80; +14)
 
• Sophomore Cameron Mello (Somerset, Mass.) tied for 17^th with a 159 (82, 77; +15).
 
• Sophomore Shane Mello (Somerset, Mass.) placed 27^th with a 165 (81, 84; +21).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2022 Little East Championship, hosted by Eastern Connecticut at Ellington Ridge Country Club on Oct. 6-7.
