Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.) had an outstanding match at No. 1 singles as Rhode Island College lost, 5-0, to No. 26 Johns Hopkins in first round action of the 2022 NCAA Div. III Women's Tennis Championship, played at MIT on Friday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Blue Jays dominated doubles play, securing three wins, two of which were shutouts. Freshmen
Amara Devine (Greenville, R.I.) and
Amiah Sommer (Cumberland, R.I.) suffered an 8-2 setback at No. 3 doubles.
• JHU sophomore
Ali Bader (Short Hills, N.J.) picked up a shutout (6-0, 6-0) victory at No. 3 singles to pull the Blue Jays within a point of winning the match.
• Junior
Christina Huynh (Astoria, N.Y.) won at No. 4 singles to end the match.
• Lisi had an outstanding match going with JHU junior
Anjai Devireddy (Austin, Texas), the two-time Centennial Conference Player of the Year, at No. 1 singles. She was down, 6-5, and tied 30/30 in the first set before the match ended.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC was making the program's fifth straight NCAA Championship appearance. The Anchorwomen had won their previous three first round matchups prior to today.
• In the fall, the Anchorwomen claimed the program's fifth consecutive and 11
th overall Little East Championship title. RIC has won seven straight and 13 overall LEC Regular Season titles.
• RIC is currently riding a 51-match unbeaten streak vs. Little East competition.
