HOW IT HAPPENED
• A rollercoaster first set began with Worcester State racing out to a 20-9 lead. In what originally appeared to be a lopsided stanza, the Anchorwomen were able to go on a 13-3 run to pull within a point. However, RIC was unable to complete the miraculous comeback bid and fell by three, 25-22.
Â
• The subsequent second frame was led by the hosts for most of the time. The Lancers did not take their first lead until late in the frame, 20-19, and went on to earn a 25-22 victory.
Â
• RIC responded in the third with a tightly contested, 25-23, win, thanks in part to four kills by Colonis.
Â
• The Anchorwomen tried to force a fifth set, but fell short with in their third, 25-22, setback of the night.
Â
• Junior outside hitter
Rhiannon Hodovanec (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led the club offensively with 11 kills and also contributed 18 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) equaled Colonis' team-high 21 digs and chipped in with eight kills.
