Jasper Bruins Slot (Scituate, R.I.) tied for second overall and earned First Team All-Little East honors as Rhode Island College finished fifth (six teams) at the 2023 Little East Men's Golf Championship, hosted by Southern Maine at Riverside Golf Course on Thursday and Friday afternoon.
THE BASICS
• Rhode Island College finished fifth (six teams) with a team score of 645 (321, 324). Eastern Connecticut won the title (590; 303, 287), followed by Keene State (619; 308, 311), Vermont State University Castleton (633; 321, 312), Southern Maine (643; 326, 317), the Anchormen and Western Connecticut (655; 327, 328).
• The championship was held at Riverside Golf Course, which is a par-70 and measures 6,162 yards.
• 30 golfers competed at the championship.
• RIC finished the first day of competition tied for third.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bruins Slot tied for second with a score of 146 (70; 76; +6).
• Junior
Cameron Mello (Somerset, Mass.) earned Second Team All-Little East honors with a ninth place finish and a score of 155 (76, 79; +15).
• Sophomore
Kyle Cullen (Glocester, R.I.) tied for 24
th with a score of 167 (87, 80; +27)
• Freshman
Max Nasser (Middletown, R.I.) tied for 27
th with a score of 177 (88, 89; +37).
• Senior
Noah Weik (Litchfield, Conn.) finished 30
th with a score of 195 (92, 103; +55).
