Boston, Mass.--Sophomores Jaden Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) and Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) each won events as the Rhode Island College men's track & field team competed at UMass Boston's Beacons Season Opener held at The Track at New Balance on Sunday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS
• It was an individual meet with no team scoring and featured Div. I, II and III programs.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saunders finished first in the high jump (1.90m) and third in the long jump (6.16m).
 
• Culhane finished first in the weight throw (15.30m).
 
• Junior Garrett Jones (Beacon Falls, Conn.) finished second in the triple jump (12.31m) and seventh in the long jump (5.86m).
 
• Sophomore Benjamin Lockwood (Saunderstown, R.I.) finished second in the 800m (2:04.75).
 
• Freshman Andrew Frezza (Johnston, R.I.) finished second in the 3,000m (9:08.26).
 
• Sophomore Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) finished second in the weight throw (14.89m).
 
• Freshman Will Schiller (Smithfield, R.I.) finished fourth in the 400m (53.40) and 24^th in the 200m (24.31).
 
• Freshman Gabriel Dosunmu (Providence, R.I.) finished fourth in the long jump (6.10m).
 
• Sophomore Juan Reyes (Providence, R.I.) finished fifth in the 800m (2:07.23).
 
• Freshman Enrique Edjang (Providence, R.I.) finished fifth in the weight throw (14.19m).
 
• Freshman Adrian Kawreh (Providence, R.I.) finished sixth in the 500m (1:16.20).
 
• Freshman Trevor Morgan (Smithfield, R.I.) finished seventh in the weight throw (13.28m) and 14^th in the shot (9.79m).
 
• Freshman Kensley Cadet (Providence, R.I.) finished eighth in the 800m (2:10.08).
 
• Senior Christopher McCarthy (Cranston, R.I.) finished ninth in the weight throw (12.35m).
 
• Freshman Alexander Pinheiro (Warwick, R.I.) finished 13^th in preliminaries of the 60m (7.33).
 
• Freshman Hussein Niyonkuru (Providence, R.I.) finished 13^th in the 800m (2:24.16).
 
• Freshman Giovanni Alves (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished 14^th in the 800m (2:24.78).
 
• Sophomore Isiah Briggs (Providence, R.I.) finished 15^th in the long jump (5.36m).
 
• Freshman Shane Marshall (Newport, R.I.) finished 19^th in the shot (8.87m).
 
• Freshman Antonello Lucchetti (Cranston, R.I.) finished 35^th in the 200m (25.15).
 
• Freshman Cherif Diallo finished 38^th in the 200m (25.68).
