Parrillo Leads Anchormen Past Dean, 7-6

Port Charlotte, Fla.--Junior third baseman Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) went 4-for-5 with three RBI as the Rhode Island College baseball team defeated Dean, 7-6, to close out their southern trip at the Snowbird Classic on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC scored the first five runs of the ballgame over the first five innings, with Parrillo and senior left fielder Joey Coro (North Providence, R.I.) each driving in a pair of runs.
 
• Dean struck for six runs in the sixth inning to take the lead, 6-5. They scored off of an error to begin the inning, then strung together a bunch of hits and walks to drive multiple runs in.
 
• The Anchormen were able to tie the game up in the seventh, then took the lead for good after an RBI single from Parrillo.
 
• Senior pitcher Connor Davey (Cheshire, Conn.) notched the win (2-0) with a six-strikeout performance in relief.
 
• Dean freshman reliever Connor Nooney (Long Beach, N.Y.) got the loss (0-1).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Gordon on Tuesday, March 14 (3 p.m.).
