Trzepacz Drives in Two in, 5-4, Setback vs. Lebanon Valley

Port Charlotte, Fla.--Sophomore first baseman Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) drove in two runs as the Rhode Island College baseball team lost a heartbreaker vs. Lebanon Valley, 5-4, at the Snowbird Classic on Thursday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC and LVC each grabbed a run early, with RIC scoring off a ground out by junior third baseman Cal Parrillo (Smithfield, R.I.) in the first, while the Dutchmen plated a runner off of a wild pitch in the second.
 
• After a sacrifice fly by Trzepacz made the game 2-1 in RIC's favor, LVC added three runs in the fifth inning off three RBI hits.
 
• RIC was able to tie the game by the eighth inning, but surrendered the winning run off of a single in the ninth inning.
 
• Trzepacz was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI.
 
• Dutchman junior designated hitter Shane Stossel (West Hanover, Pa.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. LVC had four different student-athletes drive in a run.
 
• RIC graduate pitcher Brenden Aldridge (Pawtucket, R.I.) took the loss (0-1).
 
• LVC freshman pitcher Jacob Detwiler (Martinsburg, Pa.) earned the win (1-0) in relief.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will close out competition at the Snowbird Invitational with a game vs. Dean at Centennial Park (2 p.m.).
