Shane Mello Ties for Second as Men's Golf Caps 2022-23 Season at RWU Invitational

Portsmouth, R.I.—Rhode Island College sophomore Shane Mello (Somerset, Mass.) tied for second overall as the Rhode Island College men's golf team capped the 2022-23 season with a fourth place (five) teams finish at the Roger Williams Invitational on Monday afternoon at Green Valley Country Club.

THE BASICS
• Rhode Island College finished fourth with a team score of 323 (+39). Endicott won (311; +21), followed by Salem State (321; +37) and Roger Williams (322; +38). Worcester State finished fifth (351; +67).

• 26 golfers competed at the event.

• The course was a par 71 and measured 6,830 yards.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Mello finished two strokes off the lead and tied for second with a 77 (+6),

• Freshman Jasper Bruins Slot (Scituate, R.I.) tied for fifth with a 79 (+8).

• Senior Nate Chhim (Tiverton, R.I.) tied for 16^th with an 83 (+12).

• Sophomore Cameron Mello (Scituate, R.I.) tied for 18^th with an 84 (+13).

• Freshman Nathan Evans (Cranston, R.I.) placed 24^th with a 109 (+38).
