Four Anchormen Take Home Titles at SNHU's Penmen Relays

Manchester, N.H.--Freshman Gabriel Dosunmu (Providence, R.I.) finished first in the long jump (6.70m), fourth in the 4x100m relay (43.34) and 24th in the 100m (11.61) as the Rhode Island College men's track and field team competed at Southern New Hampshire's Penmen Relays on Saturday.
 
THE BASICS
• It was an individual meet with no team scoring.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman Andrew Frezza (Johnston, R.I.) finished first in the 5,000m (15:25.18) with a career-best effort.
 
• Sophomore Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished first in the hammer (54.44m) with a personal-best effort.
 
• Sophomore Benjamin Lockwood (Saunderstown, R.I.) finished first in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:26.30) and 15th in the 800m (2:05.42).
 
• Sophomore Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) finished second in the hammer (51.25m) with a personal-best effort and sixth in the discus (36.89m).
 
• Freshman Will Schiller (Smithfield, R.I.) finished third in the 400m (51.80), fourth in the 4x100m relay (43.34) and sixth in the 200m (24.31).
 
• Junior Garrett Jones (Beacon Falls, Conn.) finished third in the triple jump (12.88m) and eighth in the long jump (6.12m).
 
• Sophomore Izaiah Karweh (Providence, R.I.) finished fourth in the 4x100m relay (43.34), tied for fifth in the high jump (1.78m) and 27th in the 100m (11.67).
 
• Freshman Alexander Pinheiro (Warwick, R.I.) finished fourth in the 4x100m relay (43.34) and eighth in the 100m (11.62) with a personal-best effort.
 
• Freshman Trevor Morgan (Smithfield, R.I.) finished fourth in the hammer (46.75m) and qualified for the N.E. Championship with a personal-best effort.
 
• Senior Christopher McCarthy (Cranston, R.I.) finished fifth in the hammer (44.61m).
 
• Sophomore Isiah Briggs (Providence, R.I.) finished 14th in the long jump (5.77m), 22nd in the 200m (24.00) and 25th in the 100m (11.63).
 
• Freshman Hussein Niyonkuru (Providence, R.I.) finished 26th in the 800m (2:16.59).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday, April 20 (11 a.m.).
