Dartmouth, Mass.—Sophomore
Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) won the Little East title in the hammer, while freshman
Andrew Frezza (Johnston, R.I.) earned two Second Team All-Little East awards, as Rhode Island College finished sixth (eight teams) at the 2024 Little East Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS
• RIC finished sixth (eight teams) with a team score of 48.0. Eastern Connecticut won the meet with a team score of 191.0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Culhane won the individual title and earned First All-Little East honors in the hammer (53.54m).
• Frezza finished second and earned Second Team All-Little East honors in both the 5,000m (15:41.82) and 10,000m (32:37.92). He was also named to the All-Little East Rookie Team in those events.
• Sophomore
Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) finished third and earned Third Team All-Little East honors in the hammer (51.26m). He also placed seventh in the discus (37.36m).
• Sophomore
Benjamin Lockwood (Saunderstown, R.I.) finished fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:09.64) and 13
th in the 800m (2:05.45). Lockwood qualified for the N.E. Championship with his effort in the steeplechase.

Gabriel Dosunmu (Providence, R.I.) finished fourth in the 4x100m relay (43.33), sixth in the 4x400m relay (3:47.73), 10
th in the long jump (6.38m) and 14
th in the 100m (11.72).

Will Schiller (Smithfield, R.I.) finished fourth in the 4x100m relay (43.33), sixth in the 4x400m relay (3:47.73), 10
th in the 400m (53.05) and 12
th in the 200m (24.09).
• Sophomore
Izaiah Karweh (Providence, R.I.) finished fourth in the 4x100m relay (43.33), ninth in the high jump (1.82m) and 10
th in the 100m (11.23).
• Sophomore
Isiah Briggs (Providence, R.I.) finished fourth in the 4x100m relay (43.33), sixth in the 4x400m relay (3:47.73) and 15
th in the 100m (11.73).
• Freshman
Trevor Morgan (Smithfield, R.I.) finished fourth in the hammer (47.89m) and 10
th in the discus (31.69m). He was named to the All-Little East Rookie Team in the hammer.
• Senior
Christopher McCarthy (Cranston, R.I.) finished fifth in the hammer (45.42m).
• Junior
Garrett Jones (Beacon Falls, Conn.) finished sixth in the triple jump (12.88m) and 11
th in the long jump (6.27m).
• Freshman
Hussein Niyonkuru (Providence, R.I.) finished sixth in the 4x400m relay (3:47.73).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2024 N.E. Div. III Championship, hosted by Mount Holyoke on May 3-4.
