New London, Conn.--Sophomore Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished first in the hammer (53.15m) with a career-best throw and 29^th in the discus (29.27m) as the Rhode Island College men's track and field team competed at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on Saturday.
 
THE BASICS
• It was an individual meet with no team scoring.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman Gabriel Dosunmu (Providence, R.I.) finished third in the 4x100m relay (44.12), fifth in the long jump (6.78m) with a personal best effort and 10^th in the 100m (11.37).
 
• Sophomore Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) finished second in the hammer (49.40m) and 26^th in the shot (10.06m).
 
• Freshman Will Schiller (Smithfield, R.I.) finished third in the 4x100m relay (44.12), sixth in the 200m (22.92) and 15^th in the 100m (11.54). His individual performance in the sprints were both career-best times.
 
• Sophomore Izaiah Karweh (Providence, R.I.) finished third in the 4x100m relay (44.12) and 16^th in the 100m (11.54)
 
• Sophomore Isiah Briggs (Providence, R.I.) finished third in the 4x100m relay (44.12) and 30^th in the 200m (24.18).
 
• Freshman Trevor Morgan (Smithfield, R.I.) finished fifth in the hammer (45.47m) and 35th in the discus (27.52m).
 
• Senior Christopher McCarthy (Cranston, R.I.) finished sixth in the hammer (45.44m) and 40^th in the discus (24.52m).
 
• Junior Garrett Jones (Beacon Falls, Conn.) finished eighth in the triple jump (12.46m) and 10^th in the long jump (6.49m).
 
• Sophomore Benjamin Lockwood (Saunderstown, R.I.) finished 21^st in the 800m (2:06.15).
 
• Freshman Andrew Frezza (Johnston, R.I.) finished 38^th in the 1,500m (4:32.12) and 44^th in the 800m (2:17.54).
 
• Freshman Hussein Niyonkuru (Providence, R.I.) finished 49^th in the 800m (2:20.45).
