Providence, R.I.—Fifth-year Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) won at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles and three freshmen earned their first collegiate victories as Rhode Island College opened the 2024 season with a 9-0 shutout victory over Albertus Magnus at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen lost a mere five games on the day and notched six shutouts.
• RIC took all three doubles contests. Freshmen Emilia Houwers (Whitewater, Wisc.) and Haylie Peacock (West Gardiner, Maine) secured an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
• Senior Amara Devine (Greenville, R.I.) won in straight sets at fifth singles and Peacock did the same at No. 3 singles to clinch the match.
• Freshman Arianna De Thomas (Providence, R.I.) joined Houwers and Peacock as the rookies who each won their first collegiate contests in the win.
