Providence, R.I.--Sophomore setter Yuleisy Alvelo (Springfield, Mass.) tallied a near double-double with a match-high 17 assists as Rhode Island College eclipsed Bridgewater State, 3-0, at The Murray Center on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC took the first set, 25-21, and the second frame, 25-16. The Bears made it tough on the Anchorwomen in the decisive third set, pulling within a point, 23-22, before a sophomore outside hitter Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) kill and a BSU error allowed the hosts to complete the shutout with a 25-22 win.
 
• The Bears' 26 attack errors and 11 service errors proved to be their downfall.
 
• RIC posted nine service aces on the night, with Alvelo knocking down a match-high four.
 
• Marines led the Anchorwomen in kills and digs with six and 10, respectfully.
 
• Senior outside hitter Rhiannon Hodovanec (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and junior middle hitter Andrayah Williams (North Providence, R.I.) each contributed five kills to the cause.
 
• Bridgewater State junior outside hitter Kim Gowell (Durham, N.H.) led the way for the Bears with a match-high nine kills.
