Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College junior middle hitter
Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.) hit .500, knocked down 12 kills and posted 1.5 blocks as Rhode Island College raised its current win streak to four matches in a 3-0 shutout over Salem State at The Murray Center on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Pires posted six kills on eight total attacks to get the ball rolling early for Rhode Island College as the hosts cruised to a 25-17 win in the opening set.
• Freshman outside hitter
Olivia Rollinson (Coventry, R.I.) got going in the second set with back-to-back kills off assists from sophomore setter
Yuliesy Alvelo (Springfield, Mass.) to put RIC up by 10, 20-10, and eventually win, 25-16. Alvelo accounted for 23 assists on the evening.
• RIC was able to work in its bench during the third set as the hosts finished off the Vikings, 25-18.
• Sophomore outside hitter
Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) and classmate sophomore defensive specialist
Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) posted great defensive efforts with 15 and nine digs, respectively. Marines also had six kills in the win.
• Junior outside hitter
Presley Shairs (Salem, Mass.) notched 10 kills to lead the Vikings.
• It was the fourth shutout of the season for the Anchorwomen.
