HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sophomore setter
Yuleisy Alvelo (Springfield, Mass.) scored the first point of the match with a service ace, however, an early seven-point run from Russell Sage quickly put the first set out of reach for the Anchorwomen.
• RIC fought to stay in the second set until a pair of kills put Russell Sage in the driver's seat, 22-15, as the Gators took the frame by seven, 25-18.
• The Anchorwomen strung together three straight points to tie set three at 20 apiece thanks to a kill from junior outside hitter
Olivia Miranda (Tiverton, R.I.) and a Marines service ace.
• The two teams would go back and forth until the third set reached overtime, in which an attack error by RIC and a Gators' kill allowed Russell Sage the sweep to end the day with a 26-24 decision.
• The loss ended a six-match Anchorwomae win streak as the Gators notched their fourth straight victory.
