Corsairs Hand Anchorwomen First Conference Setback

Dartmouth, Mass.--Senior forward Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) netted 14 points, secured 15 rebounds and blocked four shots as Rhode Island College was defeated by UMass Dartmouth, 72-49, in Little East action played at the Tripp Athletic Center on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Medbury got the Anchorwomen got out of the gates quickly as the visitors built a 9-2 advantage within the first three minutes of play.
 
• The Corsairs found their stride not long after and closed out the first quarter holding an eight-point lead, 23-15.
 
• Despite outscoring the hosts 14-11 in the second 10 minutes, RIC would still trail at the break, 34-29.
 
• UMass Dartmouth would then pull away as RIC went cold offensively in the second half, shooting a mere 17 percent from the field over the last 20 minutes.
 
• Freshman guard Jaina Yekelchik (North Scituate, R.I.) tied her career-high with nine points and shot 50 percent from long range.
 
• It was Nardolillo's team-leading seventh double-double of the season.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at home vs. Plymouth State on Saturday, Jan. 11 (1 p.m.).
