HOW IT HAPPENED

Â
• The second stanza seemed lopsided in favor of the Warriors as they quickly approached a two-set lead by going up nine points, 21-12, as the hosts put up 17 kills, compared to just seven from the Anchorwomen.
Â
• RIC got out to a hot start to open the third stanza and led, 10-3, with back-to-back kills from senior middle hitter
Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.) and junior outside hitter
Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.), which boosted the energy for the visitors.
Â
• The Anchorwomen would take the third set with clutch kills from Colonis and Marines in the final points, 25-20, to a fourth period.
Â
• The Anchorwomen were two points away from potentially forcing a final frame, but the Warriors won, 25-23, in the fourth stanza to end the match.
• Junior middle hitter
Andrayah Williams (North Providence, R.I.) posted nine winners to join Marines to lead RIC, while classmate setter
Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led the visitors with a double-double of team-highs in both assists (12) and digs (11).
