RIC Sweeps Keene State to Pick Up First Little East Win

Providence, R.I.--Junior outside hitters Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) and Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) each knocked down 10 kills as Rhode Island College earned its first Little East win of the season with a 3-0 shutout vs. Keene State at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC took the first set by six, 25-19, and held off comebacks in both the second, 25-22, and third frames, 25-23, to secure their seventh shutout on the season.
 
• Colonis posted a double-double with 10 digs, while Marines fell one shy with nine digs.
 
• Senior middle hitter Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.) and junior right side hitter Talia Lewis (Sacramento, Calif.) each racked up eight winners.
 
• Junior setters Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Grace Luchka (North Scituate , R.I.) combined for 34 assists with 20 and 14, respectively. Junior libero Carolyn Bailey (Ipswich, Mass.) led the squad with 14 digs.
 
• The Anchorwomen have won four of their last five matches.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Salve Regina on Thursday, Oct. 30 (7 p.m.).
