Providence, R.I.—Senior 
Erica Botelho (Greenville, R.I.) was named the Most Outstanding Player as No. 1 Rhode Island College defeated No. 3 UMass Boston, 4-2, in the finals to win the 2025 Little East Women's Tennis Championship at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• With the win, Rhode Island College secured a berth in the 2025-26 NCAA Div. III Women's Tennis Championship, which takes place in May.
 
• The Little East Tournament Championship marks the 12
th  title in program history and the sixth for the club in the last nine years.
 
• By posting a perfect 8-0 record in conference play this fall, Rhode Island College claimed its 14
th Little East Regular Season Championship and its eighth in the past 11 years.
 
• The Anchorwomen have reached the Little East Championship final in each of the last 10 campaigns.
 
• Botelho went 2-0 at No. 3 singles and 1-1 at No. 1 doubles during the club's two LEC Championship matches.
 
 
• The Beacons took two of three in doubles action to earn the match's first point.
 
• Sophomore 
Emilia Houwers (Whitewater, Wis.) won in straight sets at fourth singles to even the contest.
 
• After UMB won at first singles, RIC rattled off three straight wins as Botelho and sophomore 
Haylie Peacock (West Gardiner, Maine) gave the Anchorwomen a 3-2 lead with wins at No. 3 and 2 singles, respectively.
 
• Senior 
Li hsiu Hou (Kingston, R.I.) clinched the championship with a straight win at sixth singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume competition in the spring in preparation for the NCAA Div. III Championship.
