Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College seniors
Michael Alfonso (Garfield, N.J.),
Aidan Faria (Cumberland, R.I.) and
Christopher McCarthy (Middletown, N.J.) along with junior
Robert Stone (Deer Park, N.Y.) were named Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) for their respective performances during the 2024-25 season.
Alfonso, an elementary education major with a concentration in special education, was named an NWCA Scholar All-American for the fourth straight season. He earned All-Region honors at 285 lbs. with an eighth place finish at the 2025 NCAA Div. III Northeast Region Championship on March 1-2.
He went 24-9 with 12 pins, 35 takedowns and two near-falls on the season. Alfonso took second at both the Veterans All-American Classic (Nov. 9) and Doug Parker Invitational (Nov. 23).
Faria, a management major, was named an NWCA Scholar All-American for the first time. The senior transfer from Kent State went 24-9 at 174 lbs. with five pins, seven technical falls, 55 takedowns and 24 near-falls on the season. He finished fourth at the Pete Willson Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 1).
McCarthy, an accounting major and a finance minor, was named an NWCA Scholar All-American for the first time. He earned All-Region honors at 165 lbs. with an eighth place finish at the 2025 NCAA Div. III Northeast Region Championship on March 1-2.
McCarthy went 17-8 at 165 lbs. with two pins, 10 technical falls, 34 takedowns, five reversals and 28 near-falls. He placed second at the Veterans All-American Classic (Nov. 9).
Stone went 19-3 at 125 lbs. with 13 pins, three technical falls, 34 takedowns, two reversals and 13 near-falls. He placed third at both the Wildcat Open on Jan. 25 and the NEWA Futures Tournament on Feb. 23.

Jay Jones team finished the season with a 15-8 overall record. The Anchormen finished first at the Veterans All-American Classic (Nov. 9), eighth at the Doug Parker Invitational (Nov. 23), 13
th at the Pete Willson Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 1), ninth at the NEWA Futures Tournament (Feb. 23) and eighth at the NCAA Div. III Northeast Region Championship (March 1).
