Smithfield, R.I.--Senior Andrew Frezza (Johnston, R.I.) was the top Anchorman performer as the Rhode Island College men's cross country team opened the 2026 season at Bryant's Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational on Saturday.
 
THE BASICS
• RIC was the lone Div. III institution at the meet and competed against Div. I URI, Bryant, Merrimack and Stonehill.
 
• There were 51 runners who competed at the invitational, which was a 5k.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Frezza finished 43rd (17:16.10).
 
• Freshman Jahmel Rodrigues (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished 49th (18:32.60).
 
• Sophomore Marcos Ruiz Uben (Westerly, R.I.) finished 50th (20:45.30).
 
• Senior Antonello Luchetti (Cranston, R.I.) finished 51st (22:32.00).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.
