New Haven, Conn--Senior Haley Oliver (Coventry, R.I.) won the mile (5:12.59) as the Rhode Island College women's track and field team finished third (11 teams) at Southern Connecticut's Art Kadish Elm City Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
 
THE BASICS
• Rhode Island College finished third (11 teams) with a team score of 57.5. Southern Connecticut won the meet with a team score of 178.0.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Oliver also finished second in the 4x400m relay (4:12.51).
 
• Freshman Morgan Gonsalves (Dartmouth, Mass.) won the 3,000m (12:22.58).
 
• Freshman Naibel Noriega (Providence, R.I.) finished second in the 4x400m relay (4:12.51), fourth in the 55m finals (7.39) and seventh in the 200m (27.41).
 
• Sophomore Quiana Pezza (Cranston, R.I.) finished second in both the 200m (26.77) and the 4x400m relay (4:12.51), eighth in the 55m preliminaries (7.57) and ninth in the long jump (4.84m).
 
• Freshman Aaliyah Barbour-Chamblee (Providence, R.I.) finished eighth in the 400m (1:05.20) and ninth in the 200m (28.11).
 
• Sophomore Grace Lane (North Smithfield, R.I.) finished third in the mile (5:57.43).
 
• Freshman Kathryn Patalano (Riverside, R.I.) finished fourth in the 800m (2:43.42).
 
• Freshman Zoe Matos (Wakefield, R.I.) finished fifth in the high jump (1.45m) and 17th in the 200m (28.80).
 
• Junior Shirley Portillo (North Providence, R.I.) finished fifth in the 800m (2:49.00).
 
• Freshman Nizari Zayas finished sixth in the 800m (2:49.10).
 
• Freshman Shanna Correia (West Warwick, R.I.) finished sixth in the triple jump (10.13m) and 14th in the long jump (4.49m).
 
• Junior Lexie Zakrzewski (Taunton, Mass.) finished second in the 4x400m relay (4:12.51), seventh in the 400m (1:04.74) and 14th in the 200m (28.64).
 
• Freshman Stephanie Sican Velez (Providence, R.I.) finished seventh in the 600m (1:58.07).
 
• Freshman Maire Scanlon (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished 12th in the long jump (4.57m) and 17th in the 55m preliminaries (7.73).
 
• Junior Prudence Chikie-Okeke (North Smithfield, R.I.) finished 12th in the weight throw (11.09m) and 18th in the shot (8.52m).
 
• Sophomore Mariengely Rodriguez (Providence, R.I.) finished 13th in the weight throw (10.71m).
