Beacons Down Anchorwomen, 11-7

Providence, R.I.--Sophomore midfielder Brie Macaruso (Ashaway, R.I.) scored her second consecutive hat trick, picked up seven ground balls and collected four draw controls as Rhode Island College fell vs. UMass Boston, 11-7, at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
UMass Boston 11, Rhode Island College 7
UMass Boston (3-7, 1-0 LEC)
Rhode Island College (1-5, 0-2 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Beacons put one past the hosts to start the game, but it was junior attacker Livia Sweeney (North Kingstown, R.I.) who answered and sparked a three-goal first quarter for the Anchorwomen and hold a 3-1 lead after 15 minutes.

• UMB found its rhythm in the second frame as the visitors rattled off five straight goals to lead at the end of the first half, 6-3.

• Freshman midfielder Sadie Robitaille (Coventry, R.I.) scored her first collegiate goal four minutes into the third stanza, but the visitors posted four goals in the period to build a 10-4 lead with 15 minutes to play.

• Robitaille got another goal to start the fourth and Macaruso followed to make it 10-6, but an insurance marker from the Beacons put the game out of reach.

• Junior goalie Giana Franco (Salem, Conn.) faced 33 shots and made 15 saves in the loss (1-3).

• Robitaille finished with two goals.
