Boston, Mass.--Senior forward Amber Almeida (Sturbridge, Mass.) posted a shot in the 73rd minute, but was denied, as Rhode Island College fell vs. UMass Boston, 2-0, at James Cotter Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman midfielder Isabella DiGioia (West Kingston, R.I.) created the first shot of the game on target, which was saved in the first minute of action.
 
• The Beacons also wasted no time, capitalizing on a chance in the seventh minutes as the hosts found themselves up, 1-0. The UMB goal snapped a 312 minute shutout streak by the Anchorwomen.
 
• RIC would try to get to the halftime break just down one goal, but the hosts notched another goal in the 39th minute to post a commanding, 2-0, lead after 45 minutes.
 
• RIC would shut out the hosts in the second half, but could not find the back of the net as their undefeated start to the season came to an end.
 
• Senior goalkeeper Nicole Nunes (Smithfield, R.I.) made a pair of saves in the loss (5-1).
