Rhode Island College (8-2, 1-0 LEC)
VTSU Castleton (8-4, 0-1 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Defense proved to be the story in the win as four different Anchorwomen reached double digits in digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Carolyn Bailey (Ipswich, Mass.) led the way with a match-high 27 digs.

• After a loss in the first, 25-18, RIC ripped off three straight to secure the LEC win.

• The Anchorwomen ran off seven straight points in the second set, thanks in part to a pair of service aces from Alvelo, to take the frame, 25-11.

• A hard-fought battle in set three saw the visitors win in overtime, 30-28. RIC held on to edge the Spartans, 25-23, in the fourth stanza as sophomore outside hitter Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) finished the match off with a pair of kills.

• Marines led RIC with 14 kills, while also contributing eight digs.
