Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College sophomore guard Shalyn Smith (Middletown, Conn.) was named the Little East Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in an 86-70 win at Coast Guard on Dec. 20.
Smith finished with a career-high 29 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in the win over the Bears. She has played in 11 games, starting all of them. Smith is averaging 11.4 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.0 apg and 1.1 spg.
Head Coach Jenna Cosgrove's team is 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the Little East.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East play at Southern Maine on Tuesday, Jan. 6 (5:30 p.m.).
