Hall of Fame
George Macary was an All-New England wrestler during his career at Rhode Island College from 1982-86.
Macary was a four-time New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) place-finisher. At the conclusion of his career, Macary ranked first in program history in career wins, best overall record, career pins and team scoring.
As a team captain, led the team to a third place finish at the NECCWA Championship in 1985-86, the program’s best finish ever at that point. His success and leadership helped lay the foundation for RIC’s five-year run of N.E. titles (1988-92), which followed his tenure.
Macary was a member of the 1986 U.S. NCAA Div. III Pan American Team that finished second in Mexico City.
After earning a bachelor's degree in communications, he went on to a long career as an operations manager at Raytheon Missle Defense.
