Shellard has worked in the Rhode Island College Department of Athletics since 1997 and currently serves as the assistant athletic director for sports medicine and club sports, a position he has held since 2019.

Shellard oversees all aspects of sports medicine at Rhode Island College and will lead the college’s effort to enhance its athletic programs by continuing to provide more athletic training services for student-athletes.

Shellard is also be responsible the organization of club sports at Rhode Island College, providing structure and stability to the college’s growing number of club sports teams.

He spent 19 years as the assistant athletic director for intramurals and recreation where he was responsible for the management of the college's Recreation Center and its intramural program and provided physical fitness opportunities to the general student body.

Shellard previously served as the assistant athletic director for athletic medicine at RIC from 1997-2001.

He earned his Master of Science degree in education from Old Dominion University in 1992. Shellard is a 1990 graduate of Keene State College with a bachelor's degree in physical education.
