Gibbons has served as the assistant athletic director for media relations and promotions since 1997.

His primary responsibility is providing athletic media relations services for each of RIC's 21 varsity sports. Over the course of his career, Gibbons transformed and modernized the media relations department in the areas of statistics, website management, broadcasting, photography and records.

Prior to joining the RIC athletic staff, Gibbons served as the Sports Information Director at Nichols College from 1994-97.

He has also worked with the Associated Press, the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League and in the athletic departments at Assumption College and the U.S. Military Academy.

He is a 1992 graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a bachelor's degree in sport management.
