Amanda Berard ’12 was a dominant pitcher on the softball team from 2009-11. A transfer from Div. I Iona, Berard capped her impressive three-year career as an Anchorwoman by appearing in 105 games, starting 38 of them. The Swansea, Mass. Native compiled a 43-16 career record to go along with 22 saves, a 1.22 ERA, eight shutouts and 374 strikeouts in 435.2 innings pitched.
At the conclusion of her career, she was RIC’s all-time leader in saves and relief appearances (67), while ranking second in ERA, third in both wins and strikeouts, and fifth in innings pitched.
As a senior in 2011, she was named Second Team All-ECAC, Second Team All-New England and First Team All-Little East.
As a junior in 2010, Berard was named First Team All-Little East.
As a sophomore in 2009, she was named Second Team All-ECAC, Second Team All-New England, the Little East Pitcher of the Year and garnered First Team All-Little East honors.
Berard earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a concentration in special education from Rhode Island College in 2012. She is currently fourth grade teacher in the Bristol-Warren Regional School District.
