Chelsi Panarelli ’11 was an outstanding first baseman in softball from 2008-11. She helped lead the Anchorwomen to the 2008 NCAA Div. III Softball National Championship Round, a pair of Little East Regular Season and Tournament Championships and three appearances in the NCAA Div. III Softball Tournament.
The Shrewsbury, Mass. native earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from RIC in 2011 and went on to secure a nursing degree from Capella University.
Panarelli closed out her four-year career as an Anchorwoman having played in 163 games, starting 150 of them. She batted .309 (141-for-456) with 87 runs scored, 141 hits, 33 doubles, two triples, 20 home runs, 107 RBI and five stolen bases. Panarelli owned a .522 slugging percentage, a .360 on-base percentage and a .989 fielding percentage. At the conclusion of her career, she ranked first in home runs, putouts (1,058) and sacrifice flies (10), second in RBI, third in doubles, fourth in walks (42) and slugging percentage, fifth in runs scored and total bases (238), sixth in at-bats (456), seventh in hits and 16th in batting in program history.
As a senior in 2011, Panarelli was named Second Team All-Little East. She played in 50 games, starting all of them. Panarelli batted .283 (41-for-145) with 21 runs scored, 41 hits, nine doubles, one triple, three home runs, 27 RBI and three stolen bases. She owned a .421 slugging percentage, a .371 on-base percentage and a .989 fielding percentage. Panarelli was named to the Providence Regional’s All-Tournament Team in the NCAA Tournament.
As a junior in 2010, Panarelli was named First Team All-Little East. Panarelli played in 37 games, starting all of them. She batted .390 with 25 runs scored, 46 hits, 14 doubles, seven home runs, 36 RBI and one stolen base. Panarelli owned a .686 slugging percentage, a .409 on-base percentage and a .991 fielding percentage.
As a sophomore in 2009, Panarelli was named First Team All-ECAC and First Team All-Little East. She played in 42 games, starting 40 of them. Panarelli batted .325 with 28 runs scored, 38 hits, nine doubles, one triple, eight home runs (a new program record), 27 RBI, 73 total bases and one stolen base. She owned a .624 slugging percentage, a .352 on-base percentage and a .993 fielding percentage. Panarelli was named to the NCAA Div. III Softball New England Regional’s All-Tournament Team as a first baseman.
As a freshman in 2008, Panarelli played in 34 games, starting 23 of them. She batted .211 with 13 runs scored, 16 hits, one double, two home runs and 17 RBI. She owned a .303 slugging percentage, a .279 on-base percentage and a .951 fielding percentage.
