Melissa (Andrescavage) Veresko was a center on the RIC women’s basketball team from 1990-94. The Chepachet, Rhode Island native played in 88 career games, totaling 762 points, 599 rebounds, 52 assists, 32 blocks and 42 steals in her four-year career as an Anchorwoman. She ranks fourth all-time at RIC in career rebounds. As a senior in 1993-94, Veresko played in 27 games, averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

As a junior in 1992-93, she played in 18 games, averaging 8.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

As a sophomore in 1991-92, Veresko played in 24 games, averaging 11.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

As a freshman in 1990-91, she played in 19 games, averaging 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Veresko was named to RIC’s All-75th Anniversary Women’s Basketball Team in 2005.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology/social work from Rhode Island College in 1995.

Veresko is currently a social worker with St. Antoine’s Residence in North Smithfield.

She resides in Chepachet, Rhode Island with her husband Stephen and their children Emily (8) and Stephen (3).
