Kevin Sutherland ’13 was an outstanding wrestler at RIC from 2007-11. He finished a distinguished career with a 136-35 (.795) record to go along with 261 takedowns, 29 reversals, 180 escapes, 116 near-falls and 13 pins. Sutherland was a two-time NCAA individual qualifier and a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American.

The Dauphin, Pa. native earned All-New England honors in each of his four seasons on the mat and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the 2009 New England Championships.

As a sophomore in 2008-09, Sutherland was the New England Champion at 149 lbs. and advanced to the NCAA National Championships. He also qualified for the NCAA National Championships as a junior in 2009-10.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health education with a specialization in adaptive P.E. from Rhode Island College in 2013. Sutherland is currently a physical education teacher at BF Norton Elementary School in Cumberland. He is also the head wrestling coach at Johnston High School.
