Debbie (Allen) Paiva was a three-sport athlete at Rhode Island College from 1988-90, competing in volleyball, basketball and track.

An All-New England and All-Region hitter in volleyball, Paiva is currently second all-time at RIC with a .256 career hitting percentage, 13th in career kills and 12th in career blocks. She was chosen to three All-Star tournaments and was named the MVP and to the All-Tournament teams of many tourneys during her career. She was named to RIC’s All-75th Anniversary Women’s Volleyball Team in 2005.

Paiva earned All-ECAC and All-Little East Conference honors as a guard in women’s basketball. She led the squad in both scoring and rebounding as a senior in 1989-90. Paiva was named the Rhode Island Woman Athlete of the Year in 1990.

She was a Conference Champion in the javelin and also earned All-ECAC honors in that same event during her track & field career.

The Warwick, Rhode Island native earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Rhode Island College in 1990. She is currently a technical support engineer with Taco, Inc., an HVAC manufacturing company located in Cranston.

She resides in Warwick, Rhode Island with her son Brandon.
