    Men's Soccer, Coach
John Mello is the winningest coach in Rhode Island College men's soccer history. He spent 20 seasons with the program, serving as an assistant coach under Len Mercurio in 2001 and 2002 before taking the head coach's position in 2004.

In an 18-year career, Mello went 169-126 and accumulated more than 80 wins than the next highest coach's total.

Mello's teams had winning seasons in 15 of his 18 seasons on the bench and qualified for the Little East Tournament in all but three campaigns during his tenure.

He led the Anchormen to the program's first-ever Little East Tournament Championship in 2008, where RIC reached the second round of the NCAA Div. III Men's Soccer Championship. RIC reached the finals of the Little East Tournament seven times during his career.

Mello won back-to-back Little East Regular Season Championships in 2016 and 2017. RIC claimed the 2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship.

He coached three Little East Players of the Year, three Little East Defensive Players of the Year, on Rookie of the Year, 10 All-New England selections and 53 All-Little East award recipients.
